In the weeks following the events of THE DRAGON QUEEN, a comet crashed into Earth, ruining a part of the dragon queen's fortress. Sometime later, a few dragons descended from the stars as the dragon smith had. The smith went into hiding on Earth after getting back the circlet, the other dragons from the stars searching for him and the circlet.
Years passed as new rulers ascended the dragon queen's throne and expanded the kingdom beyond the mountains. The dragons chasing the smith eventually gave up on their mission and slowly left or became accustomed to life on Earth. The dragon smith had seemingly vanished from the face of existence.
The dragon queen's fortress began to fall into ruin as dragons moved away to other parts of the ever-growing kingdom while old rulers died. Dragons could live for thousands of years, but very few actually made it that far. Those on the throne tended to have shorter lifespans.
The Kingdom of Dragons's main fortress where the reigning monarch lived relocated towards the northern coast, in sight of a mighty icy ocean where an ice dragon sat on the throne. The ice dragon, for all his years on the throne, wished to find the dragons from the stars with little to no luck. As a youngling, learning about the dragon smith and the importance of the circlet, he wished to find the smith and regain the circlet.
The dragon smith had vanished from the records, that was, until he appeared in the ice dragon's throne room to issue a challenge for the throne.
